 Grocery shopping in 2020 is an emotional roller coaster.

After strapping on your mask and thoroughly sanitizing your cart, you plot out the quickest, most efficient way to navigate the store, grab your items, and get out. Every surface looms like a germ-covered threat, you hold your breath when people pass, and you go to great lengths to ensure you don't get too close to fellow shoppers — exchanging pointed, disapproving glances the second someone disregards the one-way aisle arrow.

No matter how careful you are, maintaining distance from your fellow shoppers isn't always possible. And an incessantly beeping 140-pound hunk of plastic and metal with googly eyes hovering by your side and blocking the aisles certainly doesn't make things easier.

The coronavirus pandemic has proven unequivocally that human grocery workers are essential, but it's also made it plainly clear that Marty the grocery store robot is the opposite of essential.

Marty was introduced by Ahold Delhaize, Stop & Shop's Netherlands-based parent company. They put these robots, which cost a whopping $35,000 each, in hundreds of Stop & Shops and other stores throughout the U.S. in 2019. The robots have been a source of problems since their arrival, but as the pandemic has reshaped the shopping experience complaints that Marty prevents proper social distancing have started to pop up.

When states began issuing stay-at-home orders in March, panicked shoppers flooded stores to stock up on supplies. The robots were initially pulled off the floors to prioritize customer safety, but then gradually reintroduced over the next two months. Though all robots have been fully operational since late May, customers and workers alike feel that Marty has been, at best, completely useless during the pandemic or, at worst, has made shopping and working significantly harder.

Stop & Shop has marketed the robots as in-store safety devices. (They're meant to detect and report hazards on the floor, but they can't actually remove them.) So if an autonomous robot can't help shoppers or frontline workers in the middle of a crisis, what’s the point? 

As grocery workers continue to fight for hazard pay and risk coronavirus exposure on the job, they're calling on their company and their customers to recognize that human contributions in this pandemic have far outweighed the contributions of grocery store robots like Marty.

Shopify also previewed Hydrogen which is a new React framework that aims to simplify the experience of building custom storefronts. At Unite 2021, Shopify also previewed a new way to host Hydrogen storefronts directly on its platform called Oxygen which is fast, global and optimized for ecommerce.

CEO of Shopify Tobi Lütke provided further insight on the company's recent infrastructure and platform investments in a press release, saying:

US may revise Right to Repair laws for phones and consoles – but by how much?

 In the coming days, US President Joe Biden may take action on a topic near and dear to gadget fans’ hearts: the freedom to fix their own devices. He’s expected to ask the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to revise the country’s Right to Repair rules, according to a Bloomberg report.

The presidential directive will instruct the FTC to draft new rules that will stop manufacturers from restricting consumers from fixing their own devices, and will specifically mention mobile phone manufacturers and Department of Defense contractors as “possible areas for regulation,” a source familiar with the plan told Bloomberg. Farmers, who buy tractors and other equipment that need proprietary repair tools and software can also expect to see some relief.

To be clear, this is a directive, and doesn’t guarantee any certain action from the FTC. But it does show regulatory attention on an issue that’s forced consumers into following manufacturer protocols to repair their gadgets instead of fixing them on their own. This affects many kinds of devices, but especially those from big tech companies like Apple and Microsoft that have made it tough for consumers to repair devices themselves through software and hardware restrictions.

In Apple’s case, this has meant taking devices in (or shipping them to) the company’s retail and repair locations, or to authorized third-party shops. The FTC went so far as to blast Apple with a report published in May that condemned its repair restrictions as anti-competitive, like limiting access to service manuals and requiring unannounced inspections of those third-party shops, explained 9to5Mac. Even hardware design was criticized, like tying components to logic boards and making battery replacement so tough and cost-inefficient to encourage going through Apple’s channels, if not simply buying a new device.

Anyone who’s cracked their screen has faced the dilemma of either paying Apple’s high repair fees or going with a cheaper independent shop and running the risk that the phone will reject the display. This is reportedly more serious with the iPhone 12 series, which requires proprietary tools to reset serial numbers of replaced parts or the repaired phone won’t turn on, per a leaked Apple repair manual. 

The case for Right to Repair, and why big tech resists

US President Joe Biden’s executive order to the FTC is designed to drive “greater competition in the economy, in service of lower prices for American families and higher wages for American workers,” White House economic adviser Brian Deese said, per Bloomberg.

It’s easy to see that logic follow out, as it could enable third-party repair shops to more easily and affordably fix gadgets, while the increased competition would drive down the cost of fixing devices for consumers. It would also make life a lot easier for owners of devices and gadgets who can’t easily access first-party repair networks or don’t want to go through the rigmarole for smaller breakdowns, like farmers who can’t fix their tractors in the field or phone owners in rural areas.

Gadget manufacturers have maintained that their rigid control on repair networks and protocols is a form of quality control that protects consumers from faulty fixes and abuse. And there is some protective sense in design choices like attaching Touch ID-specific components to the logic board to protect sensitive authentication data.

In any case, the atmosphere around Right to Repair has pushed back against corporate tech’s paternalistic attitude, with the EU announcing its own plans to overhaul its rules for device fixing. And Apple has slowly loosened its hold on its repair network, expanding the number of independent businesses in its repair program in Europe and Canada. But that’s still a far cry from enabling consumers and shops to fix devices by making service manuals and parts widely available – something that could be on the table depending on how the FTC chooses to carry out Biden’s directive.

कोरोनावायरस की वजह से स्पोर्ट्स इवेंट मार्च से रद्द हैं। हालांकि धीरे-धीरे इवेंट्स की वापसी शुरू हो गई है। इस दौरान ई-स्पोर्ट्स के प्रति लोगों की रुचि काफी बढ़ी है। खेल पर दांव लगाने वालों यानी सट्‌टेबाजों ने ई-स्पोर्ट्स का रुख कर लिया है।

स्पोर्ट्स बुक पिनेकल के ट्रेंडिंग डायरेक्टर मार्को ब्लूम ने कहा, ‘अमेरिका में ई-स्पोर्ट्स पर सट्टेबाजी 2010 से शुरू हुई। तब हफ्ते में 100 डॉलर (करीब 7600 रुपए) का दांव लगता था।’ कोरोना की वजह से करीब 38 लाख करोड़ रुपए की ग्लोबल गैम्बल इंडस्ट्री ई-स्पोर्ट्स पर निर्भर हो गई। मार्च से बुकमेकर्स की ई-स्पोर्ट्स पर बेटिंग 40 गुना तक बढ़ गई है। दुनिया भर में ई-स्पोर्ट्स की गैम्बल रेवेन्यू साल के अंत तक दोगुनी होकर करीब 1 लाख करोड़ रुपए तक हो सकती है।

कमाई के लिए कई और राज्य सट्‌टेबाजी की इजाजत देंगे

कैसिनो मैनेजमेंट कंपनी फिफ्थ स्ट्रीट गेमिंग के मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी सेठ शोएर ने कहा, ‘मुझे उम्मीद है कि उत्तरी अमेरिका में अगले 5 से 10 सालों में ई-स्पोर्ट्स बेटिंग के मामले में एनएफएल और एनबीए के बाद तीसरे स्थान पर आ जाएगा।’

ताइवान दुनिया के ऐसेचुनिंदा देशों में शामिल है, जिन्होंने कोरोनावायरस के संक्रमण को बहुत हद तक रोकने में कामयाबी पाई। अब ऐसे समय जब कोरोना की दूसरी लहर आने की आशंका जताई जा रही है, ताइवान ने तैयारी के रूप में संसाधनजुटाना शुरू कर दिया है। इसमें खाद्य सामग्री, मेडिकल सामग्री जैसे सर्जिकल मास्क, पर्सनल प्रोटेक्टिव इक्विपमेंट और वेंटिलेटर आदि शामिल हैं।

आर्थिक मामलों के उप मंत्री लिन चुआन-नेंग ने एक इंटरव्यू में बताया कि सरकार उपलब्ध सामग्री की समीक्षा करेगी और जरूरत के अनुसार कदम उठाएगी। वह कम उपलब्ध सामान के घरेलू उत्पादन में भी निवेश करेगा। लिन कहते हैं, "कोरोना महामारी से ताइवान ने एक सबक सीखा है। सरकार के पास इतनी पर्याप्त सामग्री होनी चाहिए कि आम लोगों को जरूरत की सामग्री की सप्लाई की जा सके। हमें आगे की तैयारी के लिए योजना बनाने की जरूरत है।

चीन के दबाव में डब्ल्यूएचओ से बाहर कर दिया गया

चीन के दबाव में ताइवान विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन और अन्य वैश्विक संस्थाओं से बाहर हो चुका है। ऐसे में उसे सारी तैयारी खुद ही करनी है। यह उन देशों के लिए मूल्यवान सबक है, जो इसी तरह के कदम उठाना चाहते हैं।

21 जनवरी को पहला कोरोना केस मिलने के बाद 2.4 करोड़ की आबादी वाले इस देश में संक्रमण के 500 से भी कम केस सामने आए और 7 मौतें हुईं। यही नहीं, यहां न अर्थव्यवस्था को नुकसान पहुंचाने वाला कोई बंद किया गया, न ही स्कूलों में ताले डाले गए।

बीजिंग में 7 रिहायशी इलाकों में लॉकडाउन
कोरोना के खिलाफ लड़ाई में ताइवान की सफलता इसलिए भी अहम है, क्योंकि यह चीन की सीमा से लगा है, जहां का वुहान शहर जनवरी में पूरी तरह से चपेट था। अधिकारी घरेलू हॉटस्पॉट खत्म करने में ही जुटे रहे हैं। चीनी सरकार ने बीजिंग में इसी हफ्ते 100 केस सामने आने के बाद 7 रिहायशी इलाकों को लॉकडाउन किया है।

जनवरी से ही मास्क बनाने लगे थे

ताइवान की सफलता का आधिकारिक श्रेय फेस मास्क का जल्द संग्रह और डिस्ट्रीब्यूशन है। जनवरी की शुरुआत में ही सरकार ने वहां बने मास्क जुटाना शुरू कर दिए थे और एक्सपोर्ट पर पाबंदी लगा दी थी। सैनिकों को प्रोडक्शन में लगाया गया और अतिरिक्त उपकरणों के लिए सरकार ने सहायता दी। चार महीने में ही कंपनियों का उत्पादन 20 लाख से बढ़कर 2 करोड़ यूनिट प्रतिदिन हो गया। इससे ताइवान में नियमित रूप से मास्क बांटना संभव हो सका।

ये समय कुछ करने का मौका भी लेकर आया है

लिन कहते हैं, "हम मास्क इकट्ठा करने के अनुभव का इस्तेमाल अन्य आवश्यक वस्तुओं की सप्लाई चेन बनाने में करेंगे।' ऐसी व्यवस्था के चलते कुछ घरेलू कंपनियों के लिए महामारी अप्रत्याशित मुनाफे का मौक लेकर आई है।

वेंटिलेटर बनाने वाली कंपनी के शेयर 4 साल के उच्चतम स्तर पर पहुंच गए। मास्क सप्लाई करने वाली कंपनी के शेयर जून में एक्सपोर्ट से प्रतिबंध हटने के बाद चढ़ गए। ताइवान का मानना है कि स्टोर्स में आटा, सोयाबीन तेल, कैन्ड फूड, इंस्टेंट नूडल्स और टॉयलेट पेपर का संग्रह बढ़ाने में एक से तीन महीने लगेंगे। वहीं फिलहाल 90 दिन का तेल का स्टॉक है।

प्रधानमंत्री साई इंग-वेन ने भी कहा था कि यह पहल ताइवान की छह आर्थिक प्राथमिकताओं में से एक है। अगले 4 साल में ताइवान रणनीतिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण इंडस्ट्री स्थापित करेगा, जो अहम चीजों की सतत सप्लाई सुनिश्चित करेंगी।

शादी के लिए 28 साल उम्र की अनिवार्यता के प्रस्ताव पर एक यूजर नेकहा- ‘अगर इसे लागू किया जाए ताे मैं सबसे पहले एक कार या एक घर के पुरस्कार की हकदार बनूंगी, क्याेंकि मैंने 18 साल में ही शादी कर ली है। क्या मुझे इसका कोई फायदा मिलेगा?’ एक अन्य यूजर ने कहा- ‘मैं शादी की उम्र काे लेकर नहीं, बल्कि इस बात पर चिंतित हूं कि संसद में अगला बिल यह पेश न कर दिया जाए कि 30 साल से पहले एक बच्चा भी अनिवार्य ताैर पर हाे।’ एक यूजर ने कहा- ‘मैं अब शादी से सिर्फ एक साल, एक माह व 12 दिन ही पीछे हूं।’

पुरुष अब 28.1 और महिलाएं 23.4 वर्ष में शादी कर रहे

ईरान में यूं तो लड़कियाें व लड़कों के लिए शादी की उम्र 18 और 20 साल है, लेकिन उन्हें 13 और 15 साल में भी शादी की इजाजत दे दी जाती है। बिगड़ते आर्थिक हालात व बेरोजगारी के कारण यहां शादी की औसत उम्र बढ़ गई है। देश में जहां पुरुष औसतन 28.1 वर्ष की उम्र में विवाह कर रहे हैं, वहीं महिलाएं औसतन 23.4 वर्ष में शादी कर रही हैं। यही नहीं, जन्मदर भी लगातार गिर रही है।

2020 में जन्मदर 2.97% और 2019 में 2.88% गिरी है। ईरान के सर्वोच्च नेता अयातुल्ला अली खमेनी चाहते हैं कि देश की आबादी 2050 तक 8.18 करोड़ से दोगुनी हो जाए। इसके लिए सरकार ने कुंआरों के लिए मेट्रिमोनियल साइट शुरू करने जैसे कई कदम उठाए हैं। फिर भी लोग शादी से कतरा रहे हैं।

युवाओं को नौकरी से निकालने की धमकी, बाल-विवाह भी बढ़ रहे

ईरान में शादी और बच्चे पैदा करने को लेकर सरकार भी सख्ती दिखा रही है। 28 साल के होने के बावजूद शादी नहीं करने पर नौकरी से निकाले जाने की धमकी दी जा रही है। बड़े पैमाने पर बाल-विवाह करवाए जा रहे हैं। 14 साल उम्र होते ही लड़कियों पर शादी का दबाव बनाया जाना शुरू कर दिया जाता है। 2019 में बाल विवाह रोकने संबंधी एक बिल विधेयक संसद में रुकवा दिया गया था।

[UPDATE] You were right. I ignored every single one of your comments and eventually caught my wife with the other man

This is a tough pill to swallow, and I can't say I hadn't been warned. This is my previous post. Many folks asked me to follow up with an update so here it is, fresh from the oven.

After reading every single comment of the reddit post, my brain just couldn't overcome the catastrophe and the collapse of the world I had built for me in which my wife is my love, my best friend and partner, as well a the person I admire the most. She was entirely perfect, and made me happy for many years. I thought no couple in the world could have what we had. We were both very happy for a long time. We were both attractive, we were both inherently good, had big hearts and were individually wildly successful in our careers.

After the reddit post, I moved to an airbnb and eventually with family to think things through. It was a terrible time but a psychologist helped me recover from a terrible mental state. It coincided with the pandemic hitting very hard in my city (I caught the virus), which didn't help.

During this time, we kept talking and my wife was very sorry and continued saying they hadn't met. I knew it wasn't true but was willing to forgive the woman of my dreams, who continued being in the highest altar of my universe.

Fast forward last saturday morning, I went back to our place, ready to forgive her and talk things through in the most mature way possible. And well, there she was, but I was the one who received the biggest surprise, to say the least. The guy was in my house naked, and so was my wife. The guy from the messages, the guy from the pics. The one she said she didn't even like. I caught him hiding in my bathroom as my wife was putting her pajamas on. When I saw him hiding in my bathroom, he uttered "sorry dude". For a second I asked myself, is this were I kill him? But I instantly replied "I got nothing against you", because the guy was just nailing this hot woman. Even if he was doing so in a house full of pictures of me. Pictures of our wedding and our families. Pictures of my dead father who would be so sad to see how the marriage he never witnessed was going to end. He has always been the reason I try to make the world a better place. He passed away two months before our wedding.

I'm sorry. I still love her to death. But I understand enough is enough. Even if my world collapses, I hope I can build a new one without lies and in which I'm not just a blind believer under an altar of a fake god.

• रिपोर्ट की मुताबिक, ओप्पो फाइंड X2 की भारत में कीमत 60,000 रुपए से 65,000 रुपए तक के बीच में होगी जो इसके 12 जीबी रैम और 256 जीबी वैरिएंट की कीमत होगी। दिलचस्प बात यह है कि पिछले महीने इस फोन की कीमत अमेजन इंडिया की लिस्टिंग में भी लीक हुई थी, जहां कीमत 69,990 रुपए के साथ लिस्ट की गई थी।
• गौरतलब है कि ओप्पो फाइंड X2 प्रो की कीमत अभी तक सामने नहीं आई है। यह फोन फाइंड X2 के साथ ही लॉन्च हुआ था, यूरोपीय बाजार में इसके 12 जीबी रैम और 512 जीबी स्टोरेज वाले सिंगल वैरिएंट की कीमत 1199 यूरो यानी लगभग 1,67,300 रुपए है।

• ग्लोबल मार्केट में लॉन्च हो चुके फाइंड X2 प्रो एंड्रॉयड 10 पर आधारित कलरओएस 7.1 पर काम करता है।
• इसमें 6.7-इंच क्यूएचडी+ अल्ट्रा विज़न डिस्प्ले शामिल है, जो 120 हर्ट्ज़ रिफ्रेश रेट और 240 हर्ट्ज़ तक टच सैंपलिंग रेट से लैस है।
• ओप्पो फाइंड X2 में ऑक्टा-कोर क्वालकॉम स्नैपड्रैगन 865 चिपसेट मिलता है।

• ओप्पो फाइंड X2 में ट्रिपल रियर कैमरा सेटअप है, लेकिन इसका प्राइमरी कैमरा 48-मेगापिक्सल सोनी IMX586 सेंसर के साथ आता है।

कोरोनावायरस के कारण ओलिंपिक सहित दुनियाभर के कई मेगा इवेंट स्थगित या कैंसिल हो चुके हैं। भारत में भी अनलॉक-1 शुरू हो चुका है। खेल मंत्रालय ने स्टेडियम खोलने की अनुमति दे दी है। कुछ खिलाड़ी ट्रेनिंग शुरू कर चुके हैं। ओलिंपिक क्वालिफाई कर चुके खिलाड़ियों ने अगले साल के टोक्यो गेम्स के लिए नए सिरे से तैयारी शुरू कर दी है।

जवाबः मुझे ज्यादा परेशानी नहीं हुई। मैंने घर पर ही एक मैट और कुछ जिम इक्विपमेंट्स का इंतजाम कर लिया था। उससे मुझे ट्रेनिंग करने में काफी मदद मिली। मेरा ट्रेनिंग पार्टनर और फिजियो मेरे साथ थे, इसलिए मेरी ट्रेनिंग लगातार जारी रही।

सवालःखेल मंत्री ने कहा कि 6 से 10 मेडल आ सकते हैं। आप कितने मेडल की उम्मीद कर रहे हैं?
जवाबःउम्मीद तो सभी को है कि इस मेडल टैली में अधिक से अधिक मेडल होंगे। मुझे भी ऐसी ही उम्मीद है क्योंकि सरकार ने खिलाड़ियों को काफी सपोर्ट किया है।

सवालःहमारी तैयारी पूरी होती है, लेकिन मेडल नहीं आ पाते। ऐसा क्यों? विदेश जाने पर बैन है, क्या इससे तैयारी पर असर पड़ेगा?
जवाबःअब खेल को लेकर देशवासियों की भी सोच बदल रही है। क्रिकेट के साथ बाकी गेम्स की तरफ भी अब देशवासी रुचि लेने लगे हैं। उम्मीद है बदलाव आएगा। विदेशी कोच और विदेश में ट्रेनिंग से कुछ फर्क तो पड़ेगा, पर ये मुश्किल किसी एक के लिए नहीं पूरी दुनिया के लिए है। सभी इस परेशानी से जूझ रहे हैं।

सवालःरेसलिंग कॉन्टैक्ट स्पोर्ट्स है। कोविड-19 के बाद गेम और रेसलर की ट्रेनिंग को लेकर अप्रोच में किस तरह का बदलाव आएगा?
जवाबःअभी सभी को सावधानी बरतनी पड़ेगी। जब तक वैक्सीन तैयार नहीं हाे जाती, तब तक सरकार के दिए दिशा-निर्देशों का पालन करना ही होगा। सावधानी हटी, दुर्घटना घटी ये कहावत आज की स्थिति पर पूरी तरह से सही बैठती है। मैं भी मेडिकल फील्ड के एक्सपर्ट और डॉक्टर्स के दिए गए दिशा-निर्देशाें का पालन करूंगा। मैं सोशल मीडिया और वॉट्सएप के ज्ञान के हिसाब से चलकर खुद की और औरों की सेहत के साथ खिलवाड़ नहीं करूंगा।

सवालःओलिंपिक पोस्टपोन होने से क्या असर पड़ेगा? क्या नए सिरे से प्लानिंग करनी पड़ेगी?
जवाबःइससे बहुत फर्क पड़ेगा क्योंकि हम खास टूर्नामेंट को ध्यान में रखते हुए ही प्लानिंग करते हैं। अब जब ओलिंपिक गेम्स एक साल के लिए पोस्टपोन हो गए हैं तो ट्रेनिंग के साथ-साथ पूरी प्लानिंग भी बदलनी होगी।
