Somehow, both Cleveland and Pittsburgh still have an outside shot at making the playoffs, but with Baker Mayfield and Ben Roethlisberger calling the shots, you might want to watch this one through your fingers. Read on as we explain how to get a Browns vs Steelers live stream and watch NFL Monday Night Football online no matter where you are today.
Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers live stream
It's been a season to forget for both quarterbacks, but Big Ben will be desperate to put on a good show on what's looking likely to be his final ever game at Heinz Field.
What's left in that right arm of his? Pittsburgh's starts have become historically bad this season, as demonstrated by their failure to register a first-half TD in five straight games, and it could be up to rookie RB Najee Harris to do the heavy lifting once again.
Ironically, the Steelers need to do everything in their power to force Mayfield to play. Their rush defense is the worst in the NFL bar none, and Nick Chubb has the ability to win it all on his own.
This could get messy, so follow our guide for how to watch the Browns vs Steelers online and get an NFL live stream wherever you are in the world right now.
Stream NFL without cable with Sling TV Get your first month for only $10 now. With the game being shown on ESPN tonight, cord cutters can watch with a Sling TV subscription. Sign up to Sling Orange now and shave a mighty $25 off the usual monthly price, while also scoring access to NFL Network, Fox, NBCSN, CNN, and 20+ more channels.

The new Kompanio 1380 is MediaTek's shot at the high-end SoC market, making it something we definitely want to get our hands on and test for ourselves. MediaTek chips for Chromebooks are generally in the 500- or 800-series, which means that the new SoC should offer some seriously competitive performance against rival Qualcomm and maybe even Intel.
Generally, MediaTek chips are known more for their power efficiency than their performance, so MediaTek-powered Chromebooks tend to be underperformers even though their battery life is quite good.
Acer's Chromebook Spin 513, announced today at CES 2022, is arguably the company's most popular Chromebook, so Acer is putting a lot of faith in the new chip. The new Chromebook will also feature a larger display, which – when paired with the more powerful processor – does indicate that its battery life is going to take a hit.
Last year's Chromebook Spin 513 was powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c and had a claimed battery life of about 13 and a half hours. We found the Chromebook Spin 513 lasted 12 hours 26 minutes in our review, which isn't quite as long but still not bad.
The new Chromebook Spin 513 will get up to 10 hours of battery life, according to Acer, which is quite a hit. We'll definitely be interested to see if the performance trade-off is worth it in the end.
Other Acer Chromebooks also announced for students and families
In addition to the Acer Chromebook Spin 513, Acer also announced the Acer Chromebook 315, which will feature a 15.6-inch, full HD (1080p) anti-glare display and a full sized tenkey keyboard.
There is also the Acer Chromebook 314, which has a smaller 14-inch full HD, multitouch display, though the keyboard is tenkey-less.
Both have various additional features that make hybrid work or schooling more accessible thanks to flare-reducing webcams and technology for better audio performance like DTS Audio.

Possible specs for EVGA’s rumored GeForce RTX 3090 Ti K|NGP|N have been recently leaked. While the original source took down said details, Harukaze captured them in time before their own tweet disappeared in smoke.
However, the leaked information is now in the wild and what we’ve gotten so far sounds rather impressive. The RTX 3090 Ti K|NGP|N will have a new PCB and shroud design, and there are even rumors of dual-16 pin or dual-12 pin PCIe power connectors. This would also make the graphics cards extremely power-intensive, since a double pin would mean up to 1200W of power draw.
While the Asetek-based 360mm AIO cooling system should be the same, thanks to the design overhaul the Hydro Copper water blocks for the original K|NGP|N won’t fit with the new version.
If the rumors are true, and remember that these are merely rumors at this point, the release date might be around March 2022.
Analysis: Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti incoming?
Plenty of rumors have been circulating about Nvidia’s own GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, which is looking more likely thanks to the EVGA RTX 3090 Ti K|NGP|N leaks.
Some of the more recent ones include that it will most likely have 450W TDP, 24GB VRAM, GA102 GPU with 10,752 CUDA cores, a new board layout, and a PCIe Gen 5.0 card power connector.
The most persistent one seems to be Nvidia possibly revealing the GPU during CES 2022, along with the budget-friendly RTX 3050 and an RTX 3070 Ti revamp with more VRAM (16GB). It might also be the only one not delayed, if recent reports are anything to go by.
The CES 2022 is a couple of days away. But Samsung is already showing off a few of its monitors that it is set to unveil at the tech event. Among the monitors it is debuting at the tech extravaganza are what it touts to be the world’s first gaming monitor with both a 4K resolution and a 240 Hz refresh rate display and the 32-inch Smart Monitor M8 that has Smart TV and productivity apps built into it. Another one of its new offering is the high resolution monitor S8 that offers professional-level UHD performance for creators and designers.
“As the work and entertainment worlds continue to evolve, we are proud to deliver monitors that boost users’ experiences from the comfort of their homes,” Hyesung Ha, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics was quoted as saying.
Hitherto, gaming monitors with ultrahigh definition have shown a latency of up to 144 Hz display. Now, Samsung is upping it to a high refresh rate of 240 Hz and 4K resolution with Odyssey Neo G8. This is expected to ensure a smoother motion than is possible in the conventional ultrahigh resolution monitors.
The new 32-inch monitor will use quantum-mini light-emitting diode and has a curvature of 1000R, meaning the curved monitor would form a circle with a 1-meter radius.
Smart monitor M8 is a smart hub, too
The 32-inch smart monitor M8, at 11.4 mm thickness, is said to be about three-quarters thinner than the previous model. The UHD panel provides 99% sRGB color gamut while supporting 1.07 billion colors at 400nit brightness, showing every video, document or photo with true-to-life accuracy.
Samsung has packed smart-home hub functions into the new device. In that it comes with in-built smart TV and productivity apps. It can serve as a SmartThings control hub even without the need of a PC. Its movable magnetic SlimFit webcam is handy for video calls that are inevitable in these work-from-home times. Its built-in video call application supports popular calling apps like Google Duo. The Game Home feature can also transform the M8 into a cloud game streaming monitor.
S8 High Resolution monitor
The Samsung high resolution monitor S8, available in 27-inch and 32-inch models, is expected to deliver ultra-wide range of rich and nuanced colors. It is claimed as the world’s first UL (Underwriter Laboratories) verified Glare Free monitor. Matte Display is applied on the top of the panel, reducing light reflection even when not using a monitor hood, to provide a distraction-free working environment.
Both models feature USB Type-C 90W charging and LAN ports to help users charge laptops and mobile devices with no need for additional docking station.
All the three monitors will be rolled out globally in the first half of the year, Samsung said. Their retailing prices have not been specified yet.

Homegrown brands around wearables have been in a hyperactive mode over the past 12 months, maintaining dominance on the Indian wearables market. Brands like Boat, Fire-Boltt, and Noise have gained considerable marketshare. Noise, which had launched the ColorFit Ultra 2 smartwatch recently, is back with a budget device called ColorFit Caliber.
Noise ColorFit Caliber packs features like 15-day battery life and a color display. As claimed by the company, the smartwatch can also measure body temperature accurately. In addition, the wearable also has a SpO2 and a heart rate monitor.
The Noise ColorFit Caliber smartwatch will be available on Flipkart at a special price of Rs.1,999. The original retail price of the smartwatch has been mentioned at Rs. 3,999. The first sale of the wearable is scheduled to be held on January 6, starting at 12:00 PM IST. It ships in three different colors - White, Green, and Red.
Noise ColorFit Caliber specifications
Noise ColorFit Caliber packs a 1.69-inch TFT display with 240x280 pixels resolution. The smartwatch features 60 different sports modes and has an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. In November last, we had reported about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A33 5G as well as the Galaxy A13 5G handsets. Now a tipster claims that both smartphones will arrive in India by February, as the Korean tech giant makes a concerted effort to compete with the Chinese brands in the country.
The leak from tipster Mukul Sharma, which appeared 91Mobiles suggests that both the handsets would launch in India during February with the leaker also indicating a possible price point for the mid-segment device. We had also confirmed that a 4G version of the Galaxy A13 was being manufactured in India.
Previous leaks from Onleaks had claimed that the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G would go official in January, arriving in two color options and carrying a quad-camera setup with a waterdrop notch display up front for the selfie shooter. As for the Galaxy A13 5G, it is being pitched as the cheapest handset with 5G capabilities.
The article quotes the tipster to indicate that Samsung would launch both handsets in India, though there is no clarity whether these appear on the same day. We know that there is also a 4G variant of the Galaxy A13 in the works, but information about its arrival alongside the 5G version is also unavailable at this time.
Indications are that both the devices would be onboarded into Samsung's marketing calendar in India once their 2022 flagship series - the Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup goes official.
We know that the Galaxy A33 5G is a direct successor to the Samsung Galaxy A52, a handset launched early in 2021. And as was the case with its predecessor, this one too would lands in the mid-tier segment. The tipster also indicates that given this scenario, the new device wouldn't cost significantly higher than its predecessor. In which case, we can predict that the Galaxy A33 5G could cost around Rs.25,000.
Samsung is continuing to bring top-end features into the lower end devices to outsmart the Chinese phone makers. It did so with the Galaxy A73 that arrived with a 108 MP primary camera and is bringing a 50MP one on the Galaxy A13 5G handset. The handset is a director successor of the Galaxy A12.
The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G comes with a 6.4-inch flat display with an Infinity-U punch hole design for the selfie camera. There is a quad-camera setup at the rear though information around their specifications is still a mystery. The home screen could a Super AMOKED display with full high definition.
The handset is said to measure 159.7x74x8.1mm and is 9.7mm thick. The color options include Light Blue and Orange apart from the traditional black and white. The two colors mentioned above appear to be still in the realm of rumours, though we do know that its predecessor did appear in those hues.
Coming to the Galaxy A13 5G, the device could arrive with a 6.48-inch FHD+ LCD screen bearing a teardrop notch in the middle. It could get the Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset under the hood that may be paired with 4GB and 6GB RAMs tied to 64GB or 128GB of storage. The device could be powered by a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast-charging.

When will the Apple AirPods Pro 2 be released? Speculation is mounting around the next iteration of the noise-cancelling AirPods, which offer an audio upgrade and additional features over the standard Apple AirPods.
While we've yet to hear anything official about the AirPods Pro 2, the AirPods 3 have been released recently, bringing a much improved listening experience than their predecessors, the AirPods 2.
We are expecting another 'Pro' or premium model in the relatively near future, especially after a recent price leak – which will be good news for those keen on noise-cancelling wireless earbuds like the AirPods Pro that offer a slightly more robust feature set than their cheaper counterparts.
Right now, everything is pointing to a 2022 release date for the second-gen AirPods Pro, with respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicting a launch in the tail-end of the year.
Whenever they materialize, we're hoping Apple will introduce some big upgrades to its flagship true wireless earbuds. Here's everything we know so far about the rumored Apple AirPods 2 earbuds, plus a few features we'd like to see.
AirPods Pro 2: cut to the chase
What are they? A rumored cheaper version of the AirPods Pro.
When will they be released? Probably the last quarter of 2022
How much will they cost? Likely $249 / £249 / AU$399 or under, the price of the AirPods Pro.
AirPods Pro 2 release date
There's been a bit of back and forth with AirPods Pro 2 release date rumors.
Initial rumors suggested new 'regular' AirPods would crash into the market before 2020 is out, but later comments from industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested we'd be waiting a while longer – as indeed we have been.
That's backed up by information - which supposedly comes from a supply chain insider - that was released by @FrontTron (via MacRumors), who says that the launch of the premium wireless earbuds has been pushed back from Q2 2022 to Q3. The source didn't give a reason for this delay.
In any case, we're not expecting previous rumors that the AirPods Pro 2 would emerge in 2021 to come true now that we're nearly at the end of the year.
According to tweet from LeaksApplePro, the AirPods Pro 2 will cost the same as their predecessors ($249 / £249 / AU$399) – which contradicts previous reports that the new earbuds will be an entry-level version of the AirPods Pro (hence the AirPods Pro Lite name).
If we do get a budget-friendly version of the AirPods Pro 2, that would really shake up the competition with a genuinely affordable pair of Apple earbuds. We don't think that's super likely though; Apple recently reduced the price of the AirPods 2 in the wake of the AirPods 3 being released, making them the cheapest AirPods you can currently buy.

AirPods Pro 2 rumors
Improved noise cancellation and lossless audio
We don’t think there would be much point in releasing an entry-level version of AirPods Pro if they didn’t come with its best feature: active noise cancellation.
This was a true upgrade over the original AirPods, and signaled a shift in the true wireless earbuds market that means we can now expect to see features previously reserved for premium over-ear headphones in cordless models.
The noise cancellation offered by the AirPods Pro is very good indeed, particularly for true wireless earbuds – but it could be improved. And according to LeaksApplePro, the noise cancellation will be adjusted, if not given a complete overhaul.
We've also heard that the AirPods Pro 2 will be the first wireless earbuds from Apple to support the Apple Lossless (ALAC) standard, perhaps using some new kind of proprietary wireless connection rather than Bluetooth.
Fitness tracking features
A previous report by Digitimes said future AirPods will use ambient light sensors to take biometric measurements – potentially for monitoring blood oxygen levels like the Apple Watch 6.
According to AppleLeaksPro, this feature is coming to the AirPods Pro 2 – and as posited by MacRumors, this could work in a similar way to the ear-based clip on pulse oximeters used in hospitals, which shine light through the earlobe to detect the amount of oxygen in a patient's bloodstream. It's not clear whether the design of the AirPods Pro would have to change materially to allow this to happen, but we think it's unlikely that Apple would ditch the design that has made its earbuds so ubiquitous.
According to Patently Apple, the patent describes AirPods that use inbuilt sensors to "gather orientation information such as accelerometer measurements during user movements".
That's not all. Future Apple AirPods – including the rumored AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro Lite – could automatically pause or lower the volume of your music if they detect hazards in your surroundings, according to a patent granted to the company on August 11.
The patent describes a pair of true wireless earbuds that are capable of adjusting their audio output based on the user's activities and location, including "adjusting audio volume, stopping or preventing audio from playing, providing feedback, directions, encouragement, advice, safety information, instructions, and the like".
Spotted by Patently Apple, the patent describes how in-air gestures – for example hovering a hand over the AirPods – could work alongside the touch controls already employed by the AirPods Pro, allowing you to trigger different actions.
According to a Bloomberg report that cites "people familiar with the plans" the AirPods Pro will get a design overhaul in 2021, eliminating the ear stems altogether, for a "more rounded shape that fills more of a user's ear" – perhaps taking a few design cues from the Samsung Galaxy Buds and the Google Pixel Buds.
That design isn't set in stone, however. Bloomberg says that fitting the features of the AirPods Pro, including the antennas and microphones, into a more compact build has been a challenge so far, which "could result in a less ambitious design when the final product is finalized".
If Apple does keep the protruding stems we’d love the brand to include haptic feedback when you touch them – it would add a little bit of tactility to the user experience that we think would be really beneficial.
A charging case that doubles up as an AirTag
Apparently the Apple AirPods Pro 2 will come with a charging case that can be tracked with the Find My app on the iPhone, so you can find it if it gets lost. It'll also make a beep if you need to locate it, much like the AirTags do.
Could the AirPods Pro Lite come with a more workout-friendly design like the Beats Powerbeats Pro?(Image credit: Beats)
AirPods Pro 2: what we want to see
Sports-friendly features
Some earfins wouldn’t go amiss to make the AirPods Pro Lite appeal to the running crowd. While we find that the AirPods Pro are generally quite secure during workout sessions, some extra security could win over diehard fans of the earhook-toting Beats Powerbeats Pro.
Another way to steal some custom from Beats (and therefore itself)? Adding some cool color options to the AirPods Pro Lite. If they really are a cheaper version of the AirPods Pro, and therefore not a flagship product, what’s the harm in a little experimentation? We’d love to see true wireless earbuds in the same space gray and rose gold colors we’ve seen with some iPhone and MacBook Pro models.
Longer battery life
The battery life offered by the AirPods Pro doesn't match some of the best true wireless earbuds you can buy today. While perfectly acceptable, just under 25-hours of playtime has been far outmatched by the likes of the Lypertek PurePlay Z3 2.0 (though these admittedly don't come with noise cancellation, which can drain battery life).
For a start, we'd like to see aptX HD support, which would allow for wireless streaming of hi-res audio codecs at 24-bit/48kHz – which Qualcomm claims makes for better-than-CD quality. That way, Apple could get the audiophiles on side – and it seems a bit of an oversight now that the original AirPods Pro can support other codecs like Dolby Atmos spatial audio and Apple Music now offers lossless audio at no extra cost for subscribers.
We'd also like to see the ability to customize the EQ of the AirPods Pro, which could make them suitable for a wider range of musical genres. While the original earbuds are great for listening to pop music, they just don't have the right EQ curve to do justice to classical music.
The OnePlus 10 is the next big smartphone we're expecting to see from the Chinese tech company now that the OnePlus 9T has been confirmed not to exist. In fact, it'll debut in January 2022.
This upcoming premium smartphone will likely launch as part of the early-year wave of top-end smartphones, with the Samsung Galaxy S22, Xiaomi 12 and Oppo Find X4 expected to be close contemporaries and rivals.
We haven't heard too much about the OnePlus 10 just yet - there are a few leaks, which we'll share below - but rumors will probably start up soon, particularly in the new year ahead of the phone's debut.
We've also drawn up a wish-list of features we want to see in the OnePlus 10, including changes from previous phones and added extras from rival devices, which would give the OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro a better chance of getting a top review score.
Latest news
The latest leak gives us most of the key specs for the OnePlus 10 Pro, including the screen size, battery capacity, and chipset.
OnePlus 10: cut to the chase
What is it? OnePlus' next flagship phone
When is it out? January is confirmed, perhaps January 11
How much will it cost? Likely starting at $729 / £629 (about AU$940)
OnePlus 10 release date and price
The OnePlus 10 Pro will debut in January 2022, according to the company's CEO Pete Lau. This was revealed in a post on Chinese social networking site Weibo where Lau wrote, "10 Pro, see you in January".
We don't know anything else yet, so we're not clear whether this will be a China-only launch. Previously, rumors have suggested the OnePlus 10 series will debut in China first and then come to the rest of the world at a later date.
Lau's post is specifically around the OnePlus 10 Pro, which may suggest the company will be splitting its launch in 2022 to reveal each phone on a seperate date.
A recent leak has also suggested the company will be hosting an event to reveal the OnePlus 10 Pro on January 11. That comes from a video that suggests it'll be a China-only.

If the China-only launch comes first, leaks have suggested we'll then be able to buy this phone in the US or UK around March or April 2022. The company doesn't sell its phones in Australia, so don't expect a OnePlus 10 release there.
With regards to price, the OnePlus 9 series started at $729 / £629 (about AU$940) for the lowest-spec base model, and went up to $1,069 / £929 (about AU$1,400) for the top-spec Pro model, so expect a range of prices between those figures for the handsets.
Of course, the new phones could shift the price up or down a little way, but since the OnePlus 10 doesn't sound like a huge reinvention, we wouldn't expect this shift.
Design and display
One screen detail has already been confirmed, with Pete Lau (the CEO of OnePlus) saying the OnePlus 10 Pro will use LTPO 2.0, to allow for a smoother screen than ever before.
Beyond that, one leak suggests the design of the OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro will be pretty similar to how the 9-series equivalents looked, just with some polish here and there.
OnePlus phones don't have the most radical designs in the world, so that's no surprise there.
Sooo... I'm back from the Future again, this time with the very first and early look at the #OnePlus10Pro in form of stunning 5K renders! On behalf of @ZoutonUS -> https://t.co/OPSs1ray1P pic.twitter.com/A6h1EfT98aNovember 9, 2021

The source of this leak claims the render is based on a photo of the phone, and added specs of a 6.7-inch 1440 x 3216 screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio.
We've since seen a more detailed leak of the OnePlus 10 Pro, showing the phone in full from all sides, as you can see below. According to the same source, the phone has dimensions of 163.0 x 73.8 x 8.5mm (or 10.3mm including the camera bump).

And now we've also seen an aluminum dummy unit of the OnePlus 10 Pro, and it matches the images above, but gives us a much clearer idea of how big the phone is in someone's hand. We've heard another mention of the 6.7-inch screen, too.

Camera and battery
We don't know much about the camera of the standard OnePlus 10, but a leaker claims the OnePlus 10 pro will have a triple-lens camera with a 48MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide one, and an 8MP telephoto one with 3.3x optical zoom. Those incidentally are the same specs as the OnePlus 9 Pro.
That said, there's some disagreement here, as the source of the aluminum dummy unit further up in this article claims the phone has a quad-lens camera, though that seems unlikely based on the leaked images we've seen.
We have heard these camera leaks backed up though, with one leaker sharing those specs and adding that the phone will get 80W wired and 50W wireless powering. Those specs have also been mentioned in a second leak.
That's not the only disagreement though, as a source called Bald Panda on Weibo (that's a Chinese social networking site) has also suggested the phone will come with 5x optical zoom, rather than 3.3x, so we're not certain what to expect on the camera front yet.
As for the OnePlus 10 Pro's front-facing snapper, that's rumored to be 32MP, which would be a big upgrade in terms of megapixels on the OnePlus 9 Pro's 16MP camera.
When it comes to the battery, we don't know what the capacity of the OnePlus 10's battery will be, but one source claims the OnePlus 10 Pro will have a 5,000mAh one, while another adds that it could support 125W charging.
Specs and features
First up, there's a confirmation of a feature from OnePlus itself. The company has confirmed the 10-series phones will debut brand-new software, which will combine the company's own Android fork called OxygenOS, with that of its sibling Oppo's ColorOS, following the merger of the companies.
The OnePlus CEO said the new software will combine "the fast and smooth, burdenless experience of OxygenOS, and the stability and rich features of ColorOS."
The company has also more recently confirmed that the OnePlus 10 will use the top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. This is the successor to the Snapdragon 888 and is likely to power many of 2022's flagship Android handsets.
Elsewhere, a leaker has claimed that the OnePlus 10 Pro will have a 8GB or 12GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. So far we haven't heard any specs rumors for the standard OnePlus 10 though.
What we want to see
This wish-list for the OnePlus 10 series is based on what we did and didn't like about the OnePlus 9 series, and what smartphone rivals are doing.
1. A zoom photo renaissance
Some phones come with impressive zoom cameras, like the Mi 11 Ultra with its 48MP 5x zoom camera or the Huawei P50 Pro with its 64MP 3.5x zoomer.
The OnePlus 9 didn't even have a zoom camera, and the Pro's snapper was a relatively measly 8MP 3.3x offering. Sure, that's not terrible, but if you're spending lots of money you'd want a bit more than that.
We'd like to see the OnePlus 10 pack a telephoto camera, even if it's just 12MP or 2x zoom, with the OnePlus 10 Pro packing a periscope snapper with 4x or 5x zoom and a higher-res sensor. Though even that wouldn't help the Pro rival the big dogs, with the S22 Ultra likely to have super-zoom and the Xiaomi 12 possibly having a Pro sibling too, it'd at least be more worthy of its cost.
2. Expandable - or more - storage
The only 'con' that both our OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro reviews had in common was the lack of expandable storage. So if you bought a 128GB smartphone, you can't extend the space with a memory card, and instead need to rely on cloud storage if you want more.
While expandable storage isn't necessary for most users, phone power-users - the type who'd likely buy a Pro phone, for example - might want the extra space for photos, files, or loads of apps.
Alternatively, perhaps the storage space could be improved. The OnePlus 9 phones come with a max option of 256GB, which is a lot, but not much compared to 512GB or 1TB iPhone 13s. Some people just need lots of storage.
3. Faster charging
Both the OnePlus 9 phones have 65W charging, which is very fast compared to your iPhones or Samsung Galaxy devices... but not quite as speed as rivals from companies like Xiaomi or Huawei.
Granted, 65W is faster than most people will need, but some power-users would likely enjoy the ability to juice up a smartphone in even less time. For example, the recent Xiaomi 11T Pro can power up in just 17 minutes.
Perhaps OnePlus could use this kind of super-fast powering on the 10 Pro, or at least find a competitive powering speed to stay in line with the competition.
4. Better colors
The green OnePlus 9 Pro was the only vaguely interesting-looking member of its family.(Image credit: OnePlus)
If you look at the color options of the OnePlus 9 series, or in fact most devices from the company in general, you'll see the usual gamut: black, white, maybe a light blue. There's nothing really interesting there.
We'd like to see OnePlus follow suit with the iPhones, and get a little bit weird in its colors. Let's see pink. Let's see red. Let's see gold.
Sure, vibrant phones are known to sell pretty poorly compared to boring-colored ones, but in a world where most smartphones look near-identical, brands are going to have to look to color sooner or later in order to stand out.
5. Something to come from this Hasselblad co-operation
In 2021, OnePlus announced that it had partnered with Hasselblad for the 9-series cameras. Lots of phone companies partner with camera brands for their snappers, but it wasn't exactly clear what the Hasselblad partnership would bring for the OnePlus 9.
In the end, it turned out... not much. However OnePlus did suggest that this co-operating would take some time to come to fruition, with the OnePlus 9 series just the first of many handsets to benefit from the collaboration.
Hopefully, with the OnePlus 10 series we'll see the fruits of OnePlus' and Hasselblad's labor. Perhaps we'll see some new camera modes, or bespoke lenses that impress us. Months after the OnePlus 9 launch we saw a few Hasselblad-centric features brought to the phones, and it'd be great to see the OnePlus 10 launch with something like this.
It's a weird time for entertainment. At different stages of the pandemic, filming and production have been paused on numerous projects, release dates pushed back, and sales difficult to predict.
But that didn't stop 2021 from being a good year for science-fiction. In the TV realm, The Expanse's final season landed, Apple TV's big-budget series Foundation gave us a Game of Thrones style sci-fi project to immerse ourselves in, and Marvel Disney Plus shows including Loki made us laugh, cry and, well, marvel at the studio's cinematic juggernaut.
Books like The End of Men, Project Hail Mary, The Employees and Remote Control were widely-praised. And, in the movie sphere, Dune performed very well at the box office, Spider-Man: No Way Home threw open the doors of the Marvel multiverse, and The Matrix Resurrections gave us a helping of early 2000s nostalgia that we didn't know we needed.
So what does 2022 hold? It's already shaping up to be an incredibly exciting 12 months for sci-fi. Dormant, big-budget franchises, like the long-awaited Avatar 2, will return. There are also a bunch of new Marvel movies and TV shows coming, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight.
Below, you'll find our top picks for 2022's upcoming sci-fi movies, TV shows and books. We could've included more, but we'd be here all day if we did.
Interestingly, some key themes emerge from our choices – particularly the many worlds of the multiverse. It seems creators can't get enough of the storytelling potential that these different dimensions unlock, and audiences relish the chance to feed their imaginations with tales of alternate timelines, dimensions and realities.
You'll find the release date for every movie, TV series and book below, too. But, bear in mind that these release dates might still be in flux as we head into 2022 due to the pandemic.
Sci-fi in 2022: movies
The biggest sci-fi movies coming in 2022
1. Everything Everywhere All At Once
Expected: March 25, 2022
While we were pulling together ideas for this list, it wasn't easy to pick the movie we were most excited about in 2022. Then the trailer for Everything Everywhere All At Once dropped, and, well, we've thought about nothing else since. It combines some of the most popular elements in the film industry right now, including multiversal storytelling and Kung fu – oh, and Michelle Yeoh (Shang-Chi), too.
The trailer reveals the basic plot: a woman called Evelyn Wang (played by Yeoh) learns that numerous universes exist, and multiple versions of herself live in them. It's not clear how, but she then unlocks a way to move between them and use skills from her many selves across a plethora of worlds.
It looks funny, appears to be full of fantastic action sequences, and seems utterly bonkers. The Russo brothers (Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame) are attached to this, so expect it to be a stellar movie when it arrives.
2. 65
Expected: April 29, 2022
All we know about 65 is that the movie follows the story of an astronaut (played by Adam Driver) who crash lands on a mysterious planet and then finds out he’s not alone. Is it a horrifying alien race? Another survivor? A derelict spaceship filled with thousands of "leathery objects like eggs"? Who knows.
Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place) are the writers behind 65, so you can bet whatever exists on this planet will deliver tense sequences and a few jump scares. We’re looking forward to seeing clues unfold in the run-up to release.
It was also recently revealed that Danny Elfman will be composing the score for 65. He’s worked on a whole bunch of your favourite movies over the years, like Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Men in Black, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and more.
3. Moonfall
Expected: February 4, 2022
If you’ve ever looked up at the Moon and wondered: “huh, I wonder what that's made of and if it could ever come crashing down one day?”, then this movie is for you.
Directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow), Moonfall is a sci-fi disaster movie starring Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson and Game of Thrones' John Bradley.
The basic premise is a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit, which means there’s a genuine chance everyone on Earth is doomed. Luckily, a former astronaut (played by Berry) thinks she knows what to do and enlists a small team (Wilson and Bradley) to help. But when they get closer to the Moon, they find out it has some hidden secrets. The first five minutes of the movie were recently released on YouTube so, if you want a better idea of what its plot might entail, check that out first.
4. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
Expected: May 6, 2022
Details are still relatively sparse about the MCU's 28th film. What we do know, though, is it’s set after Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Stephen Strange is playing around with the Time Stone when a “friend-turned-enemy” shows up, resulting in Strange unleashing something evil.
Considering the movie’s title, we’re guessing some multiversal horror awakens in another dimension. Remember what the Ancient One says to Strange in the first movie? “This universe is only one of an infinite number. Worlds without end. Some benevolent and life-giving. Others filled with malice and hunger. Dark places where powers older than time lie ravenous... and waiting.”
One of No Way Home's post-credits scenes gave us our first look at Doctor Strange 2's bamboozling and weird vibe and aesthetic. Expect a teaser trailer to drop very soon, then.
5. Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One)
Expected: October 7, 2022
One of the most heart-warming things about the reception to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was how many people of all ages – even those who don’t normally rush to see Marvel movies – sung its praises. That’s why we’re excited for the sequel, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One), which we now know is a two-parter.
It’s a given we can expect a lot of journeying through multiple universes again – and possibly a new cast of Spidey-People from many different dimensions, too. Producer Amy Pascal has also already revealed one of the plot points of this movie will be the romance between Miles and Gwen, which is hinted at in the teaser trailer above.
In fact, judging from the first teaser, some fans may think that Spider-Man 2099 might be the Big Bad in this next movie. But, in our trailer breakdown, we suggest that he'll actually be a good guy who wants to help Miles. All we have to go on for now, though, is a super colorful, mind-melting, mid-air fight sequence through lots of wormhole tunnels, so maybe we’re jumping to conclusions quicker than these Spideys jump through dimensions.
6. The Adam Project
Expected: Spring 2022
Upcoming Netflix movie The Adam Project is about Adam (played by Ryan Reynolds), who travels back in time to get help from his 13-year-old self.
It’s directed by Shawn Levy, who has worked on comedy movies like Just Married and Date Night, and is also the executive producer on Stranger Things. Most recently, he teamed up with Reynolds to make Free Guy, which was a breath of fresh air and laugh-out-loud funny. It’s not clear whether The Adam Project is a straight-up comedy or not. But, even if it’s more sci-fi than side-splittingly funny, you can expect plenty of Reynolds’ trademark humor throughout.
7. Avatar 2
Expected: December 2022
It feels like we’ve been waiting for an Avatar sequel for ages, and that's certainly the case: Avatar 2 has been in development for more than ten years, but it'll (hopefully) land in late 2022.
The core cast from the original movie, including Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Sam Worthington, all return. We also know Kate Winslet will be playing a starring role as she reunites with James Cameron following their Titanic days.
Early details about the movie, as well as some behind-the-scenes photos, show that it’ll focus on the underwater worlds beneath Pandora’s oceans. And, with the third, fourth, and fifth movies are already in development, it's good news all around. We’re pretty sure we’d completely lose interest if we had to wait another decade for another one.
Sci-fi in 2022: books
The best sci-fi books coming in 2022
1. How High We Go In The Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu
Expected: January 18, 2022
If you thought you'd already considered all of the horrors of climate change, think again. How High We Go In The Dark begins with the discovery of a girl's preserved remains in the Arctic Circle, which unleash an ancient virus that quickly spreads all over the world.
The book follows the tragic, transformational and interwoven stories of characters who attempt to rebuild humanity after the climate plague ravages it.
A scientist's test subject – a pig no less – develops human speech. A painter and his granddaughter try to find a new home plane. And two people fall in love at a theme park for terminally ill children. Yeah, it sounds surreal, alright.
This debut novel from Sequoia Nagamatsu spans continents and centuries, even extending out into the cosmos, and we can't wait to read it. And how beautiful is the novel's cover? Very, in our view.
2. Deep Dive by Ron Walters
Expected: January 11, 2022
There are a few upcoming books about virtual reality (VR), which makes a lot of sense considering it’s now a top priority for many major tech companies, and the Oculus Quest 2 is still selling incredibly well. It’s also a ripe setting for stories about the blurring of our lives, identities and desires – and Deep Dive is one we’re really looking forward to.
It’s about a video game developer called Peter who takes the opportunity to try a brand new VR headset. But, you can see where this is going. Yep, things don’t go to plan: once he steps out of his VR world and back into real life, he discovers the world around him might look similar, but critical details about his life are entirely, and horrifyingly, different.
3. Goliath by Tochi Onyebuchi
Expected: February 21, 2022
Sci-fi stories often transport us to a world that feels ominously like our own but just a few steps ahead, and that’s the vibe we immediately got after learning about Tochi Onyebuchi’s upcoming novel Goliath.
It’s set in the 2050s when people with money leave Earth behind and head up to live in space colonies. Life on the surface is challenging, as those without means or privilege try to survive on an Earth without infrastructure.
Described as a “biblical epic”, Goliath threads together the different stories of those who were able to start a new life in space and those attempting to live off the scraps left behind. In allowing us to imagine the ramifications of colonising space in a fictional future – which isn’t hard to believe, given the number of rich dudes whizzing up there all the time right now – it also explores powerful themes of race, class and history that are important points of discussion today.
4. Love and Other Human Errors by Bethany Clift
Expected: August 4, 2022
In 2021, Bethany Clift wrote one of our favourite sci-fi/end-of-the-world books. Last One at the Party was an eerily prescient look at what might happen if a deadly virus (yes, how topical) tore through the UK. Amongst the mounting bodies and armies of rats, there’s a poignant story that’s full of heart and humor.
Fast-forward a year, and Clift’s next book is on its way. It’s about the invention of an algorithm that uses quantum computing to find your ultimate soulmate. The twist is, it doesn’t just look for your perfect match in this universe, but the entirety of the multiverse, too.
Like her last novel, this one feels perfectly timed. We’re increasingly using science and technology to demystify the world around us, but can we apply the same tools and principles to ‘solve’ love? We'll find out soon.
5. Plutoshine by Lucy Kissick
Expected: February 17, 2022
In Plutoshine, all of the planets in the Solar System are being terraformed, and Pluto’s next on the list with bold plans to capture asteroids and use solar mirrors to deliver the heat and light needed to make it habitable. Then the mission is sabotaged – but by who?
An unlikely friendship emerges between terraformer Lucian and nine-year-old Nou, who is traumatized and mute after a horrifying incident. This friendship ends up having repercussions for the novel's terraforming missions and, ultimately, the future of humanity.
Kissick’s novel looks like it’s going to be an ambitious space story about humanity’s journey away from Earth, with plenty of technical details for those who like to immerse themselves in the details of space exploration and colonization. But it sounds like it'll be tied together by a very grounded emotional connection, which should make it an interesting read.
6. Light Years From Home by Mike Chen
Expected: January 4, 2022
Anyone interested in the sci-fi genre has probably consumed a lot from the alien abduction sub-genre over the years. But Light Years From Home tells a story that’s less about the actual abducting part and more about the consequences that a sudden disappearance – and subsequent reappearance – might have on an already fractured family. Expect this novel to go deep on character, trauma and family drama.
That’s not to say we don’t expect there to be some exciting science-fiction plot points woven throughout Light Years From Home. Although many real-world abductions turn out to be fake or questionable, it’s not clear whether the abduction in Light Years From Home is a hoax or not. And if you have genuinely been taken, what might be the purpose of your return?
7. Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel
Expected: April 28, 2022
Emily St. John Mandel wrote the 2014 novel Station Eleven, an incredibly popular story about a world ravaged by a deadly virus and the dystopian future that follows. It proved to be so popular, in fact, that it's since been adapted into a TV series for HBO Max.
So hopes are high for her latest novel, Sea of Tranquility, which sounds fascinating. Sci-fi themes are clearly at the forefront, including parallel worlds, space colonies and time travel. And it sounds like it'll all be weaved together with stories spanning space and time, such as an unforgettable experience in the Canadian wilderness in the early 1900s, and a detective in Night City investigating a time anomaly.
Sci-fi in 2022: TV shows
The most anticipated sci-fi shows coming in 2022
1. Star Trek: Picard season 2
Expected: February 2022
The first season of Star Trek: Picard really divided fans. Some loved seeing a beloved character on a new space adventure and found the action between the Romulans and the Borg well-considered and mythic. Others, though, weren't so keen on what transpired as part of it plot.
Well, luckily for everyone, Star Trek: Picard, Season 2 seems to be taking the series in a different direction. That direction is back to the 21st century. From what we can tell, there's some kind of timeline anomaly (Q seems to be the obvious culprit as he stars in the new season, but we won't point fingers just yet). This transforms Jean-Luc's present into a totalitarian nightmare, requiring a trip back to the past to rectify things.
Some of the events shown in the trailer look very much like those we saw in Star Trek: The Next Generation's very first episode, Encounter at Fairpoint, when Q puts some of the crew on trial against humanity. If you're not one for the mind-bending intricacies of time travel paradoxes, maybe give this one a miss.
As well as the return of Q, we got a glimpse of other favorite characters in the trailer, like Seven of Nine and the Borg Queen. New characters that we met in the first season, including Cris Rios, Raffi Musiker, Soji Asha and Elnor, are also returning.
2. Star Wars: Andor
Expected: Late 2022
Rogue One was a fantastic Star Wars movie. We’d even go so far as saying it’s one of our favourites (come on, it beat the prequels, at least). That’s why it’s exciting that one of the main characters of Rogue One, Cassian Andor, is getting his own Disney Plus series in 2022.
The show will be set around five years before the events in Rogue One and focuses on Andor’s time as an intelligence officer for the Rebellion. Interestingly, Diego Luna, who reprises his Rogue One role as Andor, has teased that we’ll “definitely see some familiar faces”. So expect characters you already know and love to crop up as they transform from a random bunch of rebels into a force capable of overthrowing the Empire.
The movie’s co-writer Tony Gilroy is the showrunner for Andor, and he’s also the Bourne scriptwriter, so we’re hoping for a mash-up that brings us an espionage thriller set amongst the stars. We're also getting more Star Wars shows in the form of Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show and The Bad Batch season 2, as well as the return of another fan favorite series, which you can read up on below.
3. The Mandalorian season 3
Expected: Late 2022
The Mandalorian season 3 will be with us at some point in 2022, although there's no official word on a release date just yet. We hope it's soon because, boy, are there some big questions we need answering from last season.
We'll save you the major spoilers but, needless to say, events have hit a high point. So we can't wait to see what's next for Mando, Grogu, and company soon.
There are no official details about who is definitely coming back, although we can expect Pedro Pascal to be returning as Din Djarin, aka The Mandalorian. One character not making a comeback this time round is Gina Carano, who won't be returning as former Rebel Shock Trooper Cara Dune after her sacking over controversial views she made in 2021.
4. Solar Opposites season 3
Expected: Early 2022
Co-created by Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty) and Mike McMahan (the brains behind Star Trek: Lower Decks), Solar Opposites is a sci-fi show about a sort-of alien family who escape to Earth when their homeland, planet Shlorp, is destroyed.
It follows their effort to fit in when they find themselves in a small town in the US. This is made all the more amusing by the fact that most humans seem spectacularly non-plussed about the bunch of aliens that have moved in next door.
Expect the kind of laugh-out-loud, sometimes childish but often incredibly smart humor you've come to love from Rick and Morty, as well as some truly exceptional voice talent from Roiland, as well as Sean Giambrone, Mary Mack and Thomas Middleditch.
5. Stranger Things season 4
Expected: Summer 2022
Stranger Things season 4 was meant to land in 2021, but that date was pushed back and now we can expect it to arrive on Netflix in summer 2022.
One of the benefits of this long wait has been that more and more details about what to expect from the new season have been revealed. The build-up to a new season of Stranger Things is always a really exciting time with plenty of rumors, clues and teasers – and, so far, season 4 has been no exception. Comb through our Stranger Things season 4 guide for a blow-by-blow look at everything we know so far about the next season.
But some of the most interesting bits include the return of Hopper. Granted, we assumed he wasn't going anywhere, but now we know he's trapped in a prison in Russia. What's more, Eleven and the Byers family have relocated to California. But moving to another part of the US doesn't mean that they're safe from the Upside Down. So expect their past endeavours catch up with them in some way.
6. Foundation season 2
Expected: Late 2022
Based on the super popular, century-spanning Isaac Asimov novels of the same name, this Apple TV Plus series is a high-concept sci-fi epic. The basic premise is that Dr Hari Seldon, a psychohistorian and mathematician, develops a fancy way to predict the future with maths. This is how he foresees the coming of a new Dark Age in 500 years and starts putting plans in motion to save civilization.
The first season of Foundation pulled together a number of different threads. And, although some fans of the original books aren’t happy with the direction season one took – the series diverges from the books in many ways – it’ll be fun to see how two major cliff hangers are addressed in its next season.
7. The Bad Batch season 2
Expected: Early 2022
We might have seen the end of The Clone Wars, but there are still plenty of stories to tell about Clone Troopers in a galaxy far, far away. The Bad Batch follows the adventures of Clone Force 99, a ragtag bunch of troopers who are clones but unique in that they're genetically engineered to possess traits that make them superior soldiers.
Season 2 is expected to land sometime in 2022 and, although we felt like season one took a while to find its feet, we can't wait to see what's in store next time out. After all, Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo, Crosshair and their young sidekick Omega are all trying to find their place in a universe where the fledgling Empire is only just starting to throw its weight around, so there's plenty more story to tell in this Star Wars series.
